Groundhog day is a-coming

*233*

Tomorrow is the big day. Will we see 6 more weeks of temps in the 40s?? We have had such a non winter this year. I am loving it. I am one of the primary shovelers in the house and I am just not in the mood. We could get slammed. It could happen! This whole week will be in the 40s-50s (almost 60 deg f today) so if it is gonna happen, it should be soon.

My sort of resolution is working out pretty good so far. I decided since I almost died, I am gonna do what I want and say what I want. I am making myself be positive because nobody..especially me..wants to hear the downs all the time. Look. My physical life sucks ass. (more on that) and we all know it. Part of me thinks I dont have long on this Earth. So I am going to try to be happy, get my affairs in order, pay off outstanding debt, sell off my miniatures, teach the girls my secrets, and make a book for them so they will know everything. Insurance, bills, passwords...the whole shit show!  I am going to stop putting off stuff so I can be happy.

Today I had a mammo. Just routine. I have to wait till my GP gets the results. Then he can schedule a ultrasound. My boobs are super dense even for my age. Cancer can hide in there so having the extra scan must be done. Then next Monday I will have my upper endo and colonoscopy. They gotta see what is going on with my whole gut. Lots of issues that I will share if they find anything. Like I said, trying to keep it positive.

I have two recipes that I wanted to share with you. One I have made this weekend and one I am making today.

The first is a pasta dish. It is called Chicken and Bacon Pasta with Spinach and Tomatoes in a Garlic cream sauce. That is a mouthful of a title! The only thing I changed was replaced the cut up tomatoes with a can of crushed. This recipe is a KEEPER! We all liked it and there were no leftovers.

The 2nd recipe is a rice dish. It is called Salsa Chicken Casserole. I am making this today. It looks oh so good. We usually do tacos on Monday so this is a good change. I am changing it a smidge. I took half a jar of salsa and a can of enchilada sauce and pureed it in the blender. That will replace the just salsa portion. And the chicken has been marinating in a dry rub of cumin, coriander, cayenne, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and crushed black pepper.. I think it should have more then just an afterthought off salt and pepper.
I will make corn bread to go with this. Sounds good, huh?

I have been selling off all my full scale miniatures. I decided it was okay to do that this past Fall. I discussed it with my therapist. I started off small. I am now just going for it. I have a few really nice 1/2 scale kits that a dear friend gave me. Part of the money will be used to buy 1/2 scale furniture and fixtures for those houses. My house is just too small for the bigger houses of my childhood dreams. If I died tomorrow, the Hubs would have chucked all the minis in the trash. That is alot of money spent. So I am selling them and giving stuff away. Clear the decks of all things unwanted and unloved.

That is about it. I wish it was Spring so I could plant but it isnt. Two more months to go!

House of Miniature addiction?

*245*

I love these little kits. They are from the 1970s-80s. They are not made anymore but so mass produced that you can find unopened kits for sale. I will never pay more than $20 for a kit. If it is super rare, than I guess I do not need to own it. I also bought a Hepplewhite Cellarette and a dumb waiter. I am saving them to use in my Pomeroy dollhouse. These kits will be cherry to build. They will look great in the house. I am actually excited about building again. Those of you that do not build dollhouses for pleasure would have to equate it to buying shoes or having another satisfying hobby. I have been on a hiatus since the banks crashed. I just did not have any extra to use. Geez. I was scared to spend $20 on something cause it could break my meager budget.  Life is not as hard as it was but it is still not easy. I can spend $20 or less here and there for goodies for the hobby that I love but abandoned.

Last day of Winter today. I have been doing laundry plus puttering. The Man and I took another walk this morning. I want to build my stamina for when it gets warmer out. I want the walking to be an every day routine. If it is raining...I have not decided. I do not have raingear for that. We shall see. I know I will have to get a new pair of sneakers soon. You have to change them out every couple of months so you have stability.

Gotta go...it is time to start getting dinner started. Tilapia, spanish rice, and asparagus..Yummy!

Doctor Who marathon and a clean kitchen

The Doctor

*266*

Happy October 1st!
I still have a fan going in the house but the humidity is getting much better. Before you know it, I will be bitching about the cold.
I went to the grocery store and spent all my money on meat, fridge, and freezer foods. Fred will replenish my stash so I am not a total sad sack with $10 to my name. There were good sales on all aspects..beef, pork, chicken, and sausage. The egg man came this morning and we got some honey and eggs also. We are all set for at least 2 weeks with what I have bought.
I have cleaned the kitchen and kept it clean for two days no. And the girls are following suit, which is good. I still have not been feeling that great so I get bursts of energy, I do stuff, and then I take a two hour nap..LOL
So I shopped, cleaned the kitchen, made bone marrow and toast for lunch for Fred and I, and I finished up with internet stuff. Oh and I tidied up the livingroom. Yeah me!
Boy, this is a boring assed post. If you have not jumped ship already, you can do so now.
I plan on finishing this up and going upstairs and watching the Doctor Who marathon on BBC america. Yes maam, that sounds like a cherry Saturday to me. I did buy chips to make cookies but I think I will do that tomorrow. Already depleted as it is.
Oh, I got my train tickets yesterday for the trip to NJ and the Philadelphia Miniaturia show on first weekend of November. I have a month from here to stash some cash for the trip. It is going to be lots of fun!

Okay, Chelsea is staring at me. We only still have the one laptop and it is feast or famine when it comes to the internet around here. I have prolonged my time on it and I better go before she starts psychically boring holes into my brain.. heheheh

Toodles!

I am sick

*283*
I have been under the weather for over a week. That is why no postings on here. Plus I have been getting Christmas crap done. I was talking with another friend and she feels the same way. Sick stomach, headaches, tired, etc. You start to feel good and then BAM! It smacks you in the back of the head to tell you to go lay down. Oh well. I have a suck ass immune system. I am used to this bullshit. Anyway, I had some writing to do so I figured I would get this done also. I write two articles for a miniature/dollhouse online newsletter. I have been doing it for two years..maybe three. I have a bad memory, remember? Anyhoo..I had to write the Member of the Month which is every month and then I write the Collector`s Cabinet which is every three months. That one features three miniaturists that showcase their favorite mini. Miniatures? Dollhouses? WTF Heidi? Yup, I love to build dollhouses. I love to collect miniatures. LOVE THEM. I have built houses to give to little girls. I have built houses just for me. Lately I have been in a major major slump. I think it was the back problems and then the surgery. I was just not into it at all. Still in love with all things miniature but just did not have the *want* to actually do it.  I have two majorly big dollhouses in my house (they are not alone) that I stare at everyday. My good good GOOD (online) friend D is sending me a half scale house for Christmas. I am actually kind of excited about it. I am thinking of color schemes. That is always a good sign.
Pomeroy House

This is the Pomeroy House. Someone gave it to me fully assembled. I was so ready for it and then I wasnt. So there it sits but not for long. This past summer I found a table for it at a yard sale for $5. I was happy about that. I want to change the color again and I need to order windows (Do you hear me D? Windows!) It is a hobby. Some people spend their money on booze, slot machines and loose women, I buy teeny tiny throw pillows.

Okay...I am done for now. I am still here. I am not eating potato chips...and I will be back in writing shape maybe tomorrow.
