Merry Christmas 2014

  I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas morning so far. Hubs is off to work for 8 hours of double time. We could surely use it. There isn't much under the tree so everybody is sleeping in. Sounds sad but it is okay. This year just sucketh but we are all here. That is a good thing. It is almost 8am est and it is 54 deg F here. It will go up to the mid 60s when the sun comes out. Weirdo weather.
 I have smoked turkey necks bubbling away to make broth for the collard greens. We will have dinner later because he wont be home till dinnertime anyway.  I will putter around to get stuff done. I am glad for the warm temps.

   So next week is January 1, 2015. I have not changed my mind about paying off debt and saving money next year. I will be the most hated Mom on the planet at times but I dont care. The sick dog and a dead furnace have sealed the fate of our finances. I will be purchasing a fridge (yes..the old one is still kicking) and hubby needs new phone (old and cracked) after the furnace is fixed.  After those are done.. Spending fast at full tilt.  For the first few months of this year, it will be rough because we have that high deductible on our health insurance. We have to pay for everything medically out of pocket till we hit the magic $4k.  <----ridiculous!  I am positive that it will be very hard but the outcome for next December will be amazing. 
 Amazing, I say! 
 
   If I do what I plan, it shouldn't be too hard to achieve to pay it all off.  Bills, Groceries, Pharmacy, Gas, Dr appointments, and anything that is a REAL need. There will be a envelope with $50 every month for Hubs and I to do some fun. He is not completely participating. He will bring dinner to work but he still wants his small bit of money every week. I have obliged him that. All other shit will be a no. If we want it, we will have to go without or try a way to get it ourselves. I will document about it once a week.



They opened their gifts and there was a small bit of a smile from them both. I bought most of their gifts from local shops and I made them each two infinity scarves. It isnt a crappy Christmas after all. Yay! I bought two vintage cabbage patch dolls (1984) from Ebay for our niece. She is in love! I did good.
Okay, I have water boiling to wash dishes. I have a ham to dress for the oven, cupcakes to frost, potato salad to finish, and deviled eggs! Yes!

Dreaming of Spring

 It is almost 8am. Coffee machine just beeped to tell me it is done brewing and it is steadily snowing out there this morning.Good idea to cancel my surgical consult cause there is alot of it out there. It is supposed to warm up later this a.m. and turn over to rain. I hope it does not freeze too bad. The man has to work. Seems there is a roadway salt shortage for some cities and towns in the state. I bet the damn hill will be a nightmare.  Spring...I just think of Spring.

  Today for our storm cooking extravaganza we are having French onion soup. <----I have posted a recipe before and there it is. I picked up a bottle of red wine (merlot this time) and a dollars worth of sliced gruyere cheese yesterday. It is going to be yummy. I will have to make something else for dinner, cause the girls will not eat it. That is strictly soup for me and my honey.
I am also going to bake oatmeal cookies. It has become a theme this winter.We get a plowable snow, I warm the house by baking cookies. I wish I could say that the snow looks pretty. Visually right now it does, but I hate it so much that I cannot give it the cred that it deserves. It is cold and I hate it.

  I have not been to the gym all week. I have been active but not gym active. Too many things going on at same time as when I go. I know I could go at a different time but I am picky like that. I like to go in the morning. Start off my day correctly. I will go back starting on Monday. Tomorrow will be too much of a bitch to navigate. 

I know I am just babbling. Nothing important going on today. Soup and snow..WooHoo! I am going to dive into another cup of coffee and then start slicing onions.

I think it is going to be just a slushy mess if you ask me, but it snowing really big flakes right now so I could be proven wrong.. See! What the fuck? 1-3 or 4-6? It doesn't matter cause we do not have anyplace to go this weekend. Fred has it off. Chelsea is working right now but she gets off at 4 and hopefully the roads wont be that bad.  I have dogs surrounding me and making barking noises because I am eating bologna sandwich. They want said sandwich and I am refusing their demands. So this is going to be a choppy post...let me eat and come right back............................NomNomNomNom!.........Okay, that`s better.

First real snow of the season and I am in a cooking and cleaning mood. Fred and I put all the canning supplies away and I am thinking today is the day to put all the Christmas crap away. But I have other things in mind. Cleaning the kitchen and baking cookies both days. I have to send a BIG thank you to all the people that helped hubs and I on his unit. Since the Christmas goodies are gone, I was thinking of making like three types of cookies to send off. I have decided on old fashioned peanut butter with the fork prints, chocolate chip with peanuts, and bacon chocolate chip for the third. I found a recipe last night on Nadia G`s FB page. I do not have maple syrup so I will improvise. Blogger is acting really weird today. I think I am going to cut this shit short for today. I will come back tomorrow when I have more ME time to do it.
